Equating the mystical now with a failure to think ahead or analyze the past is dangerous hogwash. The now of mysticism is not the now of shortsightedness or stupor. The now of mysticism is the now of the aha!, where all things come together in a fully present, wordless, understanding. Like all moments of sudden insight, it is the endpoint of intensive, usually years long, inquiry. Unless you dig deep, into the nature of truth, into how others in the past understood truth, and into one’s own character and motives illumined by the light of past actions, there is no hope that all the pieces will come together in a Great Aha! Compassion, too, is only empty sentiment without intent, and intent is necessarily about the future. Life without planning and without looking back is a blinded and chaotic life, not an insightful and creative one. The ‘big mind’ zen weekends which cost € 1.000 — which type of person would be attracted to that? The type of person who thinks they’re special, can become enlightened faster than everyone else because they’re so smart/spiritual, and have a consumer “buy it” (compared to “build it”) view.
DAS JETZT DER MYSTIKER entspringt nicht dem Versagen des Denkens, der Perspektivlosigkeit oder der Ohnmacht, sondern dem wortlosen Aha beim Auftauchen eines Musters im vorher unverbundenem Sein: dem "anwesenden Verstehen". Wie alle Momente jäher Einsicht ist dies ein Endpunkt inbrünstiger, meist jahrelanger Suche. Wer nicht tief ins Wesen der Wahrheit und ihr Verständnis durch die Generationen tauchte, auch in seine eigene Art und deren Beweggründe im Lichte zurückliegender Taten, darf kaum auf das Zusammenkommen der Bruchstücke seines Lebens zum großen Aha hoffen. Reine Empfindsamkeit ohne Sorge bleibt ein leeres Gefühl, Sorge aber geht immer auf die Zukunft. Ein Leben ohne Voraus- oder Rücksicht, bleibt ein geblendetes, unzusammenhängendes Leben, weder einfühlsam noch schöpferisch. Wen ziehen denn diese 1.000-€-Zen-Wochenend-Klausuren anders an, als solche Personen, die sich für etwas Besonderes halten, mit Zugang zum Hochgeschwindigkeitsfahrstuhl ins Penthouse der Erleuchtung und einer "Kauf es"- anstelle von "Bau es"-Sicht auf alle Dinge?
